Chicken
Surges in Popularity
Over the last five years there has been a 48% surge
in the increase in chicken entrees and a 15% decrease
in deep-fried foods. Dramatic evidence of the trend
towards lighter, healthier eating.
America Wants Healthier Options
Aging baby boomers will want the option to choose something
"healthy" when they purchase a meal away from
home. Recent research indicates that the percentage
of consumers stating they have started to eat a healthier
diet increased progressively with each older group.
The
New Generation Has A Taste for a Wider Variety of Foods
Generation Y (ages 7-23) represents over one-third of the U.S.
population. This generation is also the most diverse, with minorities
composing 35% of the group. They are likely to possess well-developed
palates at younger ages given their exposure to a wider variety
of foods.
